Frequently asked questions

blue-building-blocks
What does a load balancer do?

It distributes incoming traffic across multiple servers, ensuring no single server becomes overwhelmed. This improves application availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.

How much does it cost?

€9 per load balancer per month (€0.0125 per hour). You’re billed only for the hours your load balancer is active, up to a maximum of 672 hours (28 days) per month.

What distribution algorithms are available?

We offer three algorithms: Source routes based on client IP address, Round Robin distributes requests sequentially, and Least Connections sends traffic to servers with fewest active connections.

What session persistence options do you provide?

Choose from LB Cookie where the load balancer manages connections with its own cookie, Source Based which uses the client’s IP address to maintain connection to same server, App Cookie which uses your application’s existing cookies for persistence, or None which means each request is handled independently with no session stickiness.

Does it protect against DDoS?

Yes, our load balancers included DDoS protection to help safeguard your applications from distributed denial-of-service attacks.

How does failover work?

Traffic is automatically rerouted to healthy servers if any server fails health checks. This happens instantly and requires no manual intervention.

Can I route traffic based on specific criteria?

Yes, you can configure routing based on IP addresses or ports to direct different types of traffic to specific server groups.

How many servers can I add to a Load Balancer?

There’s no limit on the number of servers you can add to your load balancer pool.

Is there a bandwidth limit?

No, our load balancers handle unlimited bandwidth with no additional charges.
